Cold Hands

19 Mar 2003

I get cold hands a lot when typing and from what I hear a lot of other people do too. So where are the products that help solve this problem. I’ve thought of the idea of having a heated jell pad that you rest your wrists on. They already have the jell pads, but I want one designed to help warm my hands. I’ve also thought of heated band that you put around your wrists. While I wasn’t completely sure why I believe heating your wrists is a good way to warm your hands, I have found this site which talks about wrists being a critical point because it is where “primarly blood vessels come close to the surface of the skin”. In my searching I even found the Crazy ThermaBand which is pretty much what I invisioned, but it’s not targeted towards keyboarding. Even so, I wonder if it would work? I’ll update you if I decided to order some.

I’m glad you found some evidence of heating wrists leading to warmer hands. I’m still skeptical however, as I only see veins…. and they carry blood TO your heart. but at least you’re not just making stuff up anymore :) I also thought that maybe part of the reason that people get cold hands, is that the hands tend to remain in a raised position relative to the rest of the arm. that probably makes it harder to pump blood, and poor circulation is a factor in cold hands. try ginko biloba. anyway, maybe someone should ask Scotty or a kin student what they think. this is such an important topic, and deserves lots of time and attention :) or maybe, we should just use computers less….
