RateMyProfessors charges for Gold membership

24 May 2003

I’m not sure what to think of RateMyProfessors.com starting to charge for complete access to ratings (‘non-Gold memeber see only the 10 most recent ratings per professor”). On one hand the ratings can be very useful and $6.95 per year isn’t very much. I’m sure they have lots of hosting costs and everything. On the other hand, all of the content they have has come from the students they are now going to charge. And it would be better if the evaluations done by students at the end of the term were put online. While one-liners about the prof can sometimes be useful, it would be nice for something more. Anyway, I only have one term left, so I don’t plan on signing up.
