Another week gone by

31 May 2003

Time just keeps moving along and another week of summer has past. Here is a recap of some things I did this week. Sunday – Played ultimate. Messed up my shoulder again. Decided I really should get it looked at and will play one armed for a while. Monday – Went for a bike ride [...]

RateMyProfessors charges for Gold membership

24 May 2003

I’m not sure what to think of RateMyProfessors.com starting to charge for complete access to ratings (‘non-Gold memeber see only the 10 most recent ratings per professor”). On one hand the ratings can be very useful and $6.95 per year isn’t very much. I’m sure they have lots of hosting costs and everything. On the [...]

Advice for NBA refs

23 May 2003

I generally agree with this article about advice for refs of NBA playoff basketball. A week or two ago I remember watching a Sixers/Pistons game in which one of the refs came out acted like he was the main show. Then thoughout the game he seemed to want to show everyone he was in charge [...]

Hanging out back home

23 May 2003

I haven’t been in to work much this week. I’m waiting for them to figure out what they want me to do. It seems like they have work to do, but don’t have the organization. So I’ve been hanging out at home, messing around with my new Linux install and working on another project for [...]

News Reader in Evolution

18 May 2003

I never understood why Outlook didn’t have a news readers built into it. Why should I have to open up Outlook Express to read my newsgroups. While Evolution seems to have done a better job with searching, I think they could outdo Outlook by adding a news reader and RSS reader.

Linux Once Again

18 May 2003

It’s been almost 4 years since I first used Linux. I remember in first year when John installed Corel Linux for me and spent several hours getting the sound to work with my messed sound card. I used Linux for a while and then switched back to Windows. Since then I’ve dual-booted with Red Hat [...]

Dream Ride

18 May 2003

Yesterday I went for a 30 mile bike ride with my brother and Dan from TCW Computers. I signed up to ride in the 100 mile Dream Ride which is on June 14, so I need to get in shape. It was my third ride of the year. My legs felt okay, but I think [...]

Lakers Dethroned

15 May 2003

Booyah. I just watched the Spurs crush the Lakers 110 to 82. It was sweet and luckly for me it was on ABC as I only have basic basic cable and all of the other weekday games have been on TNT or ESPN. But not tonight.

Working (and stuff)

14 May 2003

I’ve starting working regularly this week. I’m putting about six hours a day in at MCC. I’ve done a bit of documentation for a project I did last fall and now I’m learning some report writer program. Right now I’m a bit socially isolated as I’m up the library loft by myself. There is no [...]

Pictures of tree at night

13 May 2003

This evening Tim and I took some pictures of the maple tree in our backyard. Most of the shots were lousy, but a couple of them turned out okay.
